I’m working on remembering the stillness and beauty of my vacation, keeping it close to me, so when the sirens ring and the horns honk, I don’t go crazy!

The Body Gallery is located in downtown San Francisco and I love it. I enjoy being in the hustle and the bustle of the city when I’m at work. I feed off the energy of the people; it gets me in the mode I want to be in.

With the hustle and bustle comes the noise. The sirens, the horns, the screaming, and the construction. It can be overwhelming to my senses, causing tension in my body and mind. So, I’m working on how to be in the noisy moment with a sense of stillness and beauty. I imagine myself in the hammock, looking up at the blue sky, with the beautiful clouds, the gorgeous water, and me, breathing with a sense of calm and ease. It helps!

Even now as I write about it, I can feel the tension leaving my jaw and my shoulders. I am seeing and feeling myself in that hammock, right now, in this very moment. My breathing is calmer and I have a smile on my face. It’s a nice place to be. It’s my meditation.

I’m not one for the classic idea of meditation, doesn’t really resonate with me. I do believe in the benefits and importance of meditation though, and I’m happy to have tools in my pocket that work like meditation, without feeling like meditation.

When I read articles like this one, it reminds me of why it’s important to meditate and keep a healthy mindset.
